I've had this blue fish bottle since I was about eight years old. My mother was running an antique show and I had to help out. I sold sandwiches made by the Ladies Aide Society and learned how to make change (something which made me very, very nervous). But when my sandwich shift was done, I got to wander in and out of all the booths. I saw this blue fish sitting on one of the shelves, put it in my hand and knew I wanted it, so I bought it. Amazingly, it's sat on my desk ever since. When I am bored by my writing, I put it in my hand (it still fits perfectly), hold it up to my eye and look through it.
What do you keep on your desk?

Mostly legos and dust.
Too funny. My mother had an antique store when I was a kid, so I had very similar experiences. I actually had a doll house in the store which I filled with tiny antiques - it was MY antique store. Ladies would walk in, feel guilty for not buying anything, and then see my grinning little face. I doubled my profits the first year... I've never been that good at business since...
On my desk - good god. Is there a desk in here? I'll have to identify its location first . . .
